Grande Prairie, AB to Host 2025 Championships

Canadian Stick Curling Association (CSCA) Chair Sherril Minns has confirmed that Grande Prairie, Alberta will be the site of the Canadian 2-person Open and Women’s curling championships in 2025.

“The amenities of the 8-sheet Grande Prairie Curling Centre as well as extensive experience in hosting provincial and Tour championship curling events make this an ideal venue,” says Ms. Minns, who chaired the championships event at CurlMoncton in 2022.

The championships will be played in early April, 2025 and continue an east-west rotation of host locations designed to create regional opportunities for curlers to participate. The 2024 event will take place at Toronto’s Leaside Curling Club following Nanaimo, BC (2023) and Moncton, NB (2022).

The Grande Prairie location was announced as “likely” at the association’s 2023 Annual General Meeting in Nanaimo and ratified this week by the CSCA Executive Committee.

With the host locations now confirmed for the next two years, the bid-process will be initiated in the near future to seek expressions of interest to host the growing sport of 2-person stick curling’s championships in 2026 and beyond..
